My name is Matthew Albert and I am running for Wisconsin’s 6th Assembly District.

I was born and raised in Marion and have spent my entire life in and around family small business, whether that was my grandparent’s Larry and Nancy’s Drive In on Hwy 45 (now the Cruise In), 5A Video and 5A Liquor in Marion, or my uncle’s screen printing and embroidery shop down in Appleton. After high school, I farmed for 10 years in the Shawano and Marion areas.  While I had wanted to and tried to buy cows, when it became apparent buying into farming was not going to work for me, I decided to go to school. I studied for a year and half at UW-Green Bay before transferring to Lawrence University in Appleton, graduating with a major in Government (Political Philosophy) and a Minor in History (Russian Emphasis). While I didn’t know Lawrence would be the communist utopia that it was until I got there, I survived and truly do have an appreciation for my education there, where I only strengthened my conservative beliefs.

I got involved in politics interning in Green Bay in 2015 before becoming the Outagamie Field Director during the 2016 presidential cycle, where I met and later began dating the love of my life, Stephanie.  I have since continued to be involved with the Outagamie County Republican Party and served as County Party Chairman from 2019 to 2021.  I have committed countless hours to building a successful grassroots party in Outagamie County. I have led organizational and constitutional reforms, brought together political factions, and helped build consensus sometimes where there wasn’t any. I have overseen the party’s membership grow from 89 to closing in on 500, while expanding our outreach outside of Appleton and opened and funded a year-round, permanent office on Wisconsin Avenue that has turned the county party into a real political asset both for its members and the candidates it supports. While I am extremely proud of what I have accomplished, I know the party is now in good hands with my Vice-Chair, Sarah, so I may return to my rural roots.

I believe my background in farming and small business, and my skills developed from my experience at Lawrence and from fighting for grassroots political causes will allow me to be an effective legislator on your behalf.

While I have already traveled a great deal of the district and have met and talked with many of you, if I have not yet, I hope to meet you soon. I hope to be a legislator that represents the entirety of this district I call home and I am the only candidate in this race that collected nomination signatures from every single municipality in it. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns via the contact page and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
